RCCA Fixture
Zetec's RCCA Probe Holder Fixture Assembly holds up to 12 combination flaw detection and profilometry encircling probes. The probes are strategically positioned to allow the inspection of a 24 - rod RCCA assembly in just two rotation positions.
The fixture, delivered fully assembled, weighs approximately 285 pounds and fits easily into an empty fuel rack. Once it is attached to the overhead crane, it can be hoisted into a position where the probes are installed.
The assembly is equipped with guide tubes that align and protect each rod during the scanning process. Once in position, RCCA assemblies can be lowered through inspection probes held in the fixture by the Control Rod Handling Tool in the fuel pool. Guide pin holes and funnel plates help guide Control Rod Bundles into place. The fixture also contains an axial travel encoder to provide scanning position information with the test data.
