The technique employs 14 conventional UT probes mounted on a flexible collar. The thickness measurement is conducted using an appropriate water column and evaluating the difference between two back-wall echoes. The solution is optimized for outside diameters of 2.0", 2.5" and 3.05" and has been adopted by a number of CANDU power plants as a critical inspection tool during outages.
